Global-Frontier
The Division of Research Facilitation and Dissemination, Mahasarakham University (MSU), organized the project “Strategic Planning for Research and Innovation to Achieve Global & Frontier Research University Status” from September 27–28, 2025, at Wishing Tree Khon Kaen Resort. The program aims to drive MSU toward becoming a world-class research-intensive university, excelling in academic and research performance in line with the policy of positioning MSU as a leading Asian university, while supporting international research publications.
The event was opened by Prof. Dr. Pairot Pramual, Vice President for Research and Innovation Development, and brought together more than 50 participants, including research unit heads, faculty members, and researchers. Distinguished experts from both within and outside MSU were invited to share insights and experiences to set the framework for high-quality, competitive research and innovation strategies at the global level.
On the first day, the focus was on research agenda development and strategic directions. Sessions included:
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukanya Leethongdee, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, on “Developing Research Projects for NRCT Grant Applications”
- Assoc. Prof. Usa Klinhom, President of the Thai Traditional Medicine Network Association, on “Research and Innovation Pathways from Local Wisdom”
- Additionally, Prof. Emeritus Visut Baimai and Prof. Emeritus Prasert Sophon, MSU Council members, provided in-depth recommendations on MSU’s research directions. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anongrit Kangrang, Vice President for Policy and Planning, also shared valuable experiences in securing large-scale grants.
On the second day, a panel discussion titled “Experiences and Pathways to Securing Large-Scale Research Grants from External Funding Sources” was held, featuring MSU academics including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Piyapatr Busababodhin, Assoc. Prof. Siriyaporn Sanagroon, Asst. Prof. Manirath Wongsim, and Mr. Tom Ketwongsa.
This initiative marks a significant step forward in enhancing MSU’s academic and research competitiveness, paving the way toward its vision of becoming a globally recognized research university.
